After completing his Honours Biology Degree at the University of Waterloo and performing Graduate work in Microbiology, Dr. Bruce Nichols received his MD at McMaster University. This was followed by a residency in Family Medicine at Western University and then his Ophthalmology residency at The University of Saskatchewan. A Fellowship in Cornea and Anterior Segment Surgery was next at The University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Dr. Nichols currently holds the position of Associate Professor of Ophthalmology, Ivey Eye Institute, Western University and is Head of the Corneal and External Disease Unit.
Dr. Nichols' areas of Academic interest include advances in Refractive Cataract Surgery, Corneal Collagen Crosslinking, and Presbyopic correction with Femtosecond Laser and implant techniques.
Dr. Nichols is active in the executive of the Canadian Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery as Past President. As Medical Director of the TLC Laser Center, Dr. Nichols facilitates Resident teaching and academic research projects in the areas of Laser Vision correction, Optics, and the management of Keratoconus.
